About NIOS

The National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS) is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Education, Government of India, that serves as the world's largest open schooling system. Originally established as a CBSE project in 1979, it evolved into the National Open School (NOS) in 1989 before being renamed NIOS in 2002.
Core Objectives and Mission:-
Alternative Education: It provides a flexible alternative to the formal school system for diverse groups of learners up to the pre-degree level.
Social Goals: Its mission focuses on the universalization of education, promoting equity and justice, and fostering a learning society.
Inclusivity: Special attention is given to first-generation learners, disadvantaged groups, and physically or mentally challenged individuals
